Hack 1/5 (Get a Job in UN): There are over 40 UN Programmes, Funds, Specialised Agencies, Related Organisations. Each of them have their own website!
UNDP, UNICEF, UNHCR, WFP, UNODC, UNFPA, UNRISD, UNCTAD, UNEP, UNRWA, UN Women, UN-Habitat, WHO, UNOCHA, UNESCO, OHCHR, ILO, FAO, IFAD, IMO, WMO, WIPO, ICAO, ITU, UNIDO, UPU, UNWTO, UNAIDS, UNISDR, UNOPS, IAEA, UNITAR, UNV, WTO, CTBTO, OPCW, ITC, UNU, UNWATER, UNFCCC, UNU-MERIT .....
Hack 2/5 (Get a Job in UN): Focus on your "Plus" skills: Trilingual, Programming - separates u from rest.
Every UN job attracts hundreds of applications. Among the top candidates, their academic qualifications are largely similar. However what can give one candidate edge over the other is the "PLUS" skill he/she brings. This could be language skills (ability to speak more than one UN language) or Programming / Technology skills (ability to run a blog / manage website/ animate social media), or even First Aid skills (which may be useful for some kind of jobs). So bring in those "PLUS" skills in your application.
Hack 3/5 (Get a Job in UN): Go beyond "applying via UN Inspira". Many jobs are posted outside of it
Most people apply to UN jobs via UN Inspira and most do not hear more after applying through it. Go beyond it. Many, many jobs and consultancies do not get posted there and are advertised through other ways, including via Alumni lists, Thematic Networks, Referrals. Search and join similar networks.
