An accomplished accounting, finance, and management professional with over 15 years of extensive experience, across various sectors and in multiple countries.
My career journey includes pivotal roles such as Director of Finance and Operations at Aidspan, a US-registered nonprofit organization, Risk Manager at Safaricom, the leading mobile operator in East Africa, and CFO for a Kenyan telecom startup, Flashcom. Additionally, I have held various accounting positions in esteemed organizations such as the NCR Corporation.
Since January 2016, I have served as an Independent Consultant and Remote CFO, offering finance and accounting services (IFRS & GAAP) to a diverse global clientele comprising start-ups, early growth social enterprises, private companies, and INGOs. Operating from both Nairobi, Kenya, and the USA, I collaborate remotely with clients to identify their financial and operational systems requirements, implement new or improve existing systems, develop business models and budgets, establish budget monitoring systems, and provide end to end back-office accounting services.
SCOPE OF CONSULTANCY WORK
Remote Accounting – Through my consultancy firm ICFO Global Advisory, I have provided outsourced accounting/controller services, and virtual CFO services to organizations in Africa, USA, the Caribbean, and Europe.
Start-ups and early growth enterprises: I have designed operational and financial processes, set up accounting software that has included bill and expense management software, trained client staff on bookkeeping , established budgeting and budget monitoring systems, set up financial close mechanisms, prepared financial statements and provided clients with forward looking financial projections, business intelligence and KPIs.
Mature Organisations: I have worked with mature organizations to re-engineer their processes for efficiency and visibility; she has worked with organizations to review current systems and recommend improvements, source and implement the right ERPs. As a virtual CFO, she has been retained by clients to help them develop their financial strategy for growth , corporate and project funding, and managing budgets and cashflows and donor reporting, and provide relevant information for financial and donor audits.
Project Finance: I have worked with clients to develop financial models for project finance, manage project funds and report to funders as per debt covenants.
