Professional Experience:
As you can see from my CV, my educational and working background mainly revolve around education and teaching. However, I used to work as an associate expert with the United Nations’ Office on Drugs and Crime in Laos from 2004 - 2006. During that time, I assisted in the implementation, monitoring and technical backstopping of ongoing UNODC projects. I was able to prepare technical reports, presentations and materials pertaining to alternative projects. During my time with UNODC, I established and maintained contacts with bilateral and multilateral aid agencies, non-governmental organisations, as well as other United Nations’ agencies.
Between 2006 and 2009, I worked as a development cooperation agent with the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Hanoi. I was able to participate in the political dialogue with Lao and Vietnamese government officials in order to identify project proposals. I also participated in the formulation mandates for Lux-Development projects. Moreover, I planned and established the budget for the Embassy’s Office for development cooperation.
I am fluent in both Lao and Thai. In fact between 1998 and 1999, I was studying at the National University of Laos’ Department of Lao Language and Literature where I graduated in Lao language. With the British Council here in Thailand, I maintain the dialogue with local Thai teaching staff and take the lead in discussing students’ progress during parents-teachers meetings using the Thai language.
For the past 10 years, my wife Miriam and I have been based in Bangkok where I teach for the British Council at Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School.
