Professional Experience:
Roland Hubner is an experienced Advisor for Monitoring & Evaluation with the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, where he has been working since 2020. He has been supporting the project manager of the continental program “Strengthening Advisory Capacities for Land Governance in Africa” in the partnership coordination, commission management, and political communication with the Federal Ministry, the AU, and UNECA. He is responsible for ensuring an efficient and results-based M&E system, operational planning, and knowledge management, and has been involved in planning and executing the component on labor market integration of university graduates.
Prior to that, Roland gained valuable experience as an Intern at the Private Sector Clients Division of GIZ where he developed and drafted project concepts, value chain analysis, and benchmarks of companies, industries, and countries in Africa and Asia. He also prepared project reports and proposals for clients in the automotive, textile, agriculture, and extractive industries.
Roland has also worked as a Teaching Assistant at Sciences Po Paris, where he prepared material for the undergraduate course "Europe as a global actor" with Prof. Zaki Laïdi and supported his academic research. Additionally, he has worked as an Intern at the Middle East & Africa Division with the OECD Global Relations Secretariat in Paris, where he conducted research on private sector development, public-private dialogue, and SME policy in the MENA region. He supported the technical preparations for the OECD External Affairs Committee and prepared the launch of the MENA-OECD Business Advisory Board.
Throughout his professional experience, Roland has demonstrated his ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, international organizations, and private sector clients. He has strong analytical and communication skills, enabling him to develop and draft project concepts, conduct research, and communicate results and lessons learned effectively to internal and external audiences. He is also experienced in organizing and facilitating workshops, policy dialogues, and stakeholder engagement events.
