Professional Experience:
I have a total of 27 years work experience, the most recent 19 of which I served with the United Nations in East Africa and the United States. Currently serving as Senior Policy Advisor to the UNDP Crisis Bureau, Regional Africa Office, supporting national capacities to prevent conflicts and reduce damages caused by disasters and manage recovery and peace building processes effectively. Recently completed assignment as Senior Policy Advisor for UNHCR in New York, advising on development policy in the humanitarian context, and focal point for UNSDGs and the UN Reform process. Also served as head of Livelihoods in UNHCR Sudan Operation coordinating livelihood interventions aimed at increasing economic resilience for refugees and host communities especially women and youth, covering entire country including postwar areas such as Darfur. Practical experience with UN New Way of Working principles, and successfully implemented a pilot project on humanitarian - peace - development nexus (Community Security and Stabilization Programme - C2SP), in collaboration with UNDP in The Republic of Sudan's White Nile State.
While National Programmes Officer for UNIDO Kenya Country Office, successfully coordinated an international training school for metrology, AFRIMETS. Also coordinated a joint project with UN Women under the UN Joint Gender Program on Economic Empowerment for Women, and successfully trained over 2000 women via group trainings on entrepreneurship and product standards. During this time, served as Co-Chair of Programme Management Oversight Task Force Team giving policy guidance to the Kenya UNCT during the development of the 2013 - 2018 Kenyan UNDAF. The Kenya office also served that also covered Seychelles, Mauritius, Eritrea and South Sudan.
