Godwin Protace is a seasoned financial management and operations professional with more than 16 years of progressive experience leading grants, contracts, and compliance functions within large-scale international development programs funded by USAID, DFID, UNICEF, and the World Bank.
He has proven expertise in financial oversight, budget formulation, donor compliance, and institutional capacity building across Africa and Asia.
In his current tenure as Regional Grants and Contracts Specialist with DAI Global LLC under the USAID Market Systems and Partnerships (MSP) project, Godwin manages a US $31 million portfolio of 28 subgrantees spanning eight countries.
He leads the full award life-cycle—from solicitation and due-diligence assessment through negotiation, implementation, and close-out—ensuring compliance with USAID and DAI policies and national laws.
His work includes reviewing and negotiating budgets, developing cost-share plans, conducting risk assessments, and supporting partners through targeted training in financial management, budgeting, and donor regulations.
Through his leadership, multiple partner organizations have strengthened their governance structures, improved reporting accuracy, and enhanced overall operational accountability.
Previously, as Director of Grants and Contracts for DAI Global LLC – Tanzania on the Feed the Future Advancing Youth Project, he managed 45 subgrantees with an annual value of US $3.5 million, achieving 96 percent fund utilization and surpassing project performance targets.
He directed partner capacity assessments, financial monitoring, and procurement reviews while ensuring transparent and compliant use of funds.
His contributions established clear internal control systems and strengthened local NGOs’ ability to manage donor resources responsibly.
Earlier, as Senior Operations Manager at Pact Inc. – Tanzania, Godwin oversaw finance, human resources, procurement, logistics, and compliance functions for multiple donor-funded projects, including the US $169 million Kizazi Kipya and US $33 million Pamoja Tuwalee initiatives.
He led cross-departmental teams in preparing annual budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting to both donors and headquarters.
His leadership enhanced operational efficiency across six field offices and fostered a culture of transparency, accountability, and performance excellence.
Throughout his career, Godwin has consistently demonstrated advanced skills in budget forecasting, audit coordination, financial analysis, and long-range planning.
He has provided strategic guidance to senior leadership on grant modifications, risk mitigation, and compliance strategies, while mentoring local partners to establish sustainable financial systems.
His comprehensive understanding of donor frameworks—including USAID, FCDO (DFID), UN, and World Bank procurement and financial standards—has allowed him to navigate complex funding environments with precision and integrity.
Godwin holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Mzumbe University and is known for his analytical mindset, attention to detail, and collaborative leadership style.
