Professional Experience:

Abhijit a.k.a. Eternal Happiness™ is a documentary photojournalist and a self-published author of the first multimedia book on the little-known Indigenous Toto tribe of India.

He has been a photojournalist for The Globe and Mail in Toronto, The Times Of India, The Indian Express in Mumbai and Utrop in Oslo.

Abhijit also visually documents the works and projects of various humanitarian organizations and NGOs on the field and creates human interest visual stories on various topics.

He has worked in Toronto (Canada), Oslo (Norway), Greece and India with over 10 years of experience in visual documentation.

Some of his major highlights are:

1) Photo-documented the work of Beyond Roots, a Havana based small enterprise focussed on Afro-Cuban history and experiences relating to Yoruba culture and spirituality (fact-checking in progress)
2) Being in Greece during COVID wave-2 to photo-document the works of Dråpen i Havet,
3) Multimedia documentation of the Red Cross in the frontline rebel areas of India and
4) Selected as as a Contract Photographer with the United Nations Development Programme .

Furthering his photo-documenting journey, Abhijit would like to continue being a photo and a video journalist at an international desk in news/wire agencies. At the same time visually document the projects of NGOs and humanitarian organizations on their field sites.

He also wants to work with sociological and anthropological departments of universities to photo document the Indigenous communities around the world, thus continuing visual documentation of different human narratives that interest him.

Abhijit is trilingual and knows four other languages (including American Sign Language) in between 20 and 70%. He is a survivor of racism and extreme discrimination and is a double immigrant, from India (SE Asia) to Norway (EU) to Canada (Americas).

Currently, Abhijit is working on his second photo-book project and looking for a full-time job as a visual documentation expert with NGOs and humanitarian organisations.

Education:

One-Year Journalism course alonwith an academic internahip with The Globe and Mail as a photojournalist.

Completed a 2-year distance education that earned me a Master Of Sociology Degree from Indira Gandhi National Open University in New Delhi.

Completed a full time 3-year graduation course with two majors that earned me a Bachelors Degree in Political Science & Sociology from Mumbai University.

1- Spread across 185 pages and 3 sections, it gives a detailed visual insight into the life, culture and traditions of the Toto tribe.
It also traces the changes in the Indigenous Totos’ due to modernisation, globalisation & acculturation.
2- It has exclusive videos about the tribe’s traditions and culture embedded in QR Codes.
3- It is well researched and has taken about 8 years to compile it.
4- It is the only & the first photo-video book on the Indigenous Totos.
5- Dhaniram Toto has been awarded 'Padma Shri' (one of the highest Indian civilian awards) in 2023 for his commendable work to give a script to the endangered Toto language. His work on the Toto language has already been video documented in 2015 & is a part of this book!
