Professional Experience: |
Kees Zevenbergen is a seasoned expert in the broad field of international cooperation. He has gained extensive experience in various countries in Africa and has held advisory as well as senior management positions for both international development NGO as well as government and private sector actors. During his endeavours, he has always focused on intelligently tailoring organisational interests in service of the broader societal interests. In doing so he has developed an keen ability to reorient organisational priorities, forge alliances and adapt ways of working to assure both a viable and inspirational working environment as well as continued societal relevance. He has, for the last 8 years, acted as chair of the board of directors of Cordaid - a large Dutch INGO, supporting the organisation in its quest for continued relevance and effectiveness in a rapidly changing world. Since July 2023, he has purposefully freed himself, again, from the larger institutional interests in the development business and acts as a free agent in international cooperation.
Extensive experience in strategy and policy formulation of large International NGOs in development cooperation. Leader of teams responsible for strategic processes, communication and PR, partnerships and fundraising, evaluation and knowledge management. Worked for 15+ years in Africa (mainly francophone countries) in programme management, decentralisation, domestic accountability, monitoring & evaluation, conflict transformation and facilitation of complex multi-actor processes.
