I am responsible for managing a full portfolio of loans and grants. This means responsibility for the Financial Management–FM aspects of portfolios, both compliance, supervision missions and implementation support, throughout the project life cycle from design to completion stage; representing IFAD in legal negotiations for financial aspects and ensuring improved results of the financial management of IFAD’s projects and programs. Providing technical guidance and advice, knowledge sharing and capacity building to ensure improved FM standards and practices to the projects.
I undertake extensive regional and international missions in order to perform the work of the Organization as we manage financial management portfolios directly. I am responsible for managing a full portfolio of loans and grants. This means responsibility for the Financial Management–FM aspects of portfolios, both compliance and implementation support, throughout the project life cycle from design to completion stage; representing IFAD in legal negotiations for financial aspects and ensuring improved results of the financial management of IFAD’s projects and programs. Providing technical guidance and advice, knowledge sharing and capacity building to ensure improved FM standards and practices to the projects. Embedded in the regional financial management team, I work in close collaboration with the Country Director (CD), as well as other program management and technical staff to ensure consistency, cohesion, and synergy in the application of technical support and provision of program development support. I undertake extensive regional and international missions in order to perform the work of the Organization as we manage financial management portfolios directly. Undertaking loan and grant negotiation and signing; guiding project FM staff in sound accounting and financial management treatments, assisting project staff in Interim Financial Report (IFR) preparation and submission of disbursement Withdrawal Application (W/A) request based on IFR disbursement method; Reviewing projects external audit report in Audit Report Tracking System (ARTS) and inputting missions findings in Financial Management Dashboard; contributing to FM report for Aide-Memoire; being full part of Operation Strategic Committee (OSC); being part of Project Development Team (PDT); Reviewing and approving Consultants mission reports; constantly solving projects financial management and accounting hurdles and showing the correct accounting treatment to adopt; undertaking design missions by having strategic discussions with donors partners and government institutions; putting action plans in place to improve projects FM arrangement; reviewing all projects no-objection requests in No-Objection Tracking Unit Systems (NOTUS); taking and amending projects Finance Agreements; reviewing projects budget reallocation; preparing key schedules for Finance agreement and missions reports, and project concept note; taking active part in writing of Project Implementation Manual (PIM) and Project Design Report (PDR); preparing fiduciary summary for COSOP and concept note; undertaking project risk assessment; reviewing projects external audit TOR; undertaking projects field mission to ascertain the implementation of physical activities; undertaking all functions pertaining to projects and programs financial management arrangement.

Affiliations and Achievements: |
My achievement in IFAD is that I have raised the FM arrangement within projects declared problem projects. I have built the capacity of the finance team in terms of efficient accounting treatments and practices of projects transactions by following GAAP and IFAD financial and administrative policies. I have given training to the finance team for the preparation of financial statements for audit and effective preparation of Interim Financial Report-IFR on which the report based disbursement has been adopted by IFAD in the last past year. The achievement has been that projects financial managements in place have improved greatly. This has been witnessed by projects Coordinators and finance teams.
