Professional Experience:

Global health professional, Medical Microbiologist, and long-standing member of the WHO Expert Group on TB Diagnostics with more than two decades of experience advancing infectious disease control, diagnostic innovation, and health security across low- and middle-income countries. Over the course of 20+ years, I have built a career at the intersection of laboratory systems strengthening, surveillance, antimicrobial resistance, and One Health, consistently translating scientific evidence into operational impact. My work spans field research, evidence generation, and the introduction and scale-up of new diagnostic technologies that improve the detection, monitoring, and response to high-burden infectious diseases.
I bring extensive experience leading complex, multi-country public health programs focused on strengthening laboratory networks, enhancing diagnostic capacity, and supporting governments to operationalize global health security frameworks. My technical leadership includes designing and implementing field studies, collecting operational and epidemiologic evidence, and guiding countries through the evaluation, adoption, and integration of innovative diagnostic tools. I have supported ministries of health, national reference laboratories, and implementing partners in building sustainable systems for AMR surveillance, TB diagnostics, and integrated disease detection, ensuring that new technologies are not only introduced but embedded within national strategies, workforce structures, and quality assurance systems.
Throughout my career, I have provided scientific and technical oversight to large-scale programs funded by major global health donors, including USAID, CDC, and other multilateral partners. I have led teams responsible for strategic planning, project management, and the development of evidence-based policies and operational guidance. My work emphasizes strengthening the full diagnostic ecosystem—from specimen referral systems and biosafety to data management, workforce development, and cross-sector coordination. I am particularly skilled at fostering effective communication and collaboration across governments, multilateral agencies, academic institutions, product developers, and implementing partners, ensuring alignment between global recommendations and country-level realities.
My global experience is grounded in long-term, in-country leadership roles in Vietnam and Indonesia, regional technical leadership in Thailand, and extensive support to programs across Africa, South Asia, and the Western Pacific. These roles have provided deep insight into the operational challenges and opportunities within diverse health systems, from decentralized rural settings to national reference laboratories. I have successfully led efforts to build AMR laboratory capacity, strengthen One Health coordination mechanisms, and support countries in implementing surveillance, emergency response, and workforce development components of global health security agendas. This includes guiding field-based evidence collection to inform policy decisions, optimize diagnostic algorithms, and accelerate the adoption of new tools.
Across all roles, I have remained committed to advancing equitable access to high-quality diagnostics and strengthening the systems required to sustain them. My work blends scientific rigor with practical implementation experience, ensuring that innovations translate into measurable improvements in disease detection, response, and preparedness. I bring a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, build trusted partnerships, and drive forward strategies that enhance global health security and resilience against emerging and re-emerging infectious threats.
