Professional Experience:
I have over 20 years of experience as a lawyer in several countries in Europe and Asia. My daily responsibilities included provision of legal, compliance and tax advice to individuals, companies, multi-national corporations and NGOs alike. I have practiced all aspects of civil law and administrative law, including arbitration and court litigation proceedings. My areas of specialisation include corporate, compliance, contract, tax, employment, social security, IP rights, data protection, insurance, property law etc.
I am well familiar with the legal regime of international organizations as I have worked for 6 years for several UNDP/UNV-funded projects. As a Legal Officer, a substantial part of my duties was drafting/reviewing various legal documents: MoUs, host country and intra-agency agreements, internal rules and regulations, advising HR Unit on employment/social security issues, research and preparation of legal opinions/legal submissions/legal training for various target audiences. Being a member of the Project Procurement Committee, I was responsible to ensure that the conduct of procurement procedures and the contracting process required for various Project activities (construction, technical equipment supply, event management etc.) complied with the UN rules and the applicable national legislation. I was actively involved in negotiations and supported Project Management in drafting project extension proposals, in meetings with external stakeholders, in legal representation in front of administrative bodies and courts.
In my latest positions of Legal and Regulatory Adviser and later Associate Director Contract Management for a multinational clinical research organization, my main responsibilities included the provision of legal advice for over 35 jurisdictions, aligning the relevant legal/contract templates and serving as a point of escalation for various legal issues. I was working with the Quality Management unit on review of SOPs, policies and procedures related to legal compliance and risk management. My daily activities also required collaborating closely with the Corporate Legal Department and Regulatory and Finance Units on a variety of commercial, tax, IP, insurance and indemnity, dispute resolution etc. matters. I have been working along with the company DPO on the creation and revision of DPAs, privacy notices, redaction of legal documents for publication, client information materials etc.
