Professional Experience:

I am a programme leader with over 15 years’ experience designing and directing education, mental health, and youth development initiatives in high-risk contexts including Afghanistan, the Middle East, and South Asia. At OMID Foundation, I oversee trauma-informed academic and psychosocial programming across refugee and host communities, integrating SEL, CBT, and academic advancement strategies.

Previously, I led Shamsa Children’s Village ( Afghanistan ) as Director of Education and Mental Health, implementing holistic care and ECD interventions for marginalised youth. My work spans cross-sectoral collaboration, university partnerships, vocational training, teacher development, and curriculum adaptation. I have advised students across US, UK, and EU education systems and developed M&E frameworks to ensure sustained programme impact.

Education:

I hold an M.A. in Psychology and an Ed.M. in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. My academic foundation integrates cognitive development, trauma-informed pedagogy, and educational equity. I also completed post-graduate coursework in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics at the University of Southern California, and hold a B.A. in History and French Literature from Tufts University. My education has enabled me to develop a cross-disciplinary, culturally responsive approach to programming, equipping me to design and scale impactful learning and mental health systems across fragile and underserved contexts.

Affiliations and Achievements:

Facilitated international academic exchanges between Afghan students and peers in the U.S., Switzerland, and the UK. Organised collaborative workshops with Oxford University to enrich learning in Afghan schools. Supported student exposure to global education through cross-cultural dialogue and thematic projects.
