Professional Experience:

I bring over 14 years of experience in grants, compliance, and financial management, working across international NGOs, academic institutions, and donor-funded programs in Africa. Over the years, I have grown from hands-on financial management roles to senior leadership positions, always focusing on accountability, strong systems, and delivering tangible results.
Currently, as Global Senior Manager, Grants and Compliance at Living Goods, I oversee a complex multi-country grant portfolio. I ensure that grants and contracts are implemented on time, on budget, and in full compliance with donor and organizational requirements. I work closely with senior leadership, finance, business development, and country teams, serving as a trusted advisor on compliance, risk, and portfolio performance. I have strengthened grant systems, improved reporting processes, led budget revisions, and supported donor negotiations. A key part of my role is building capacity—developing tools, manuals, SOPs, and training programs to make compliance practical, clear, and actionable, while helping teams deliver strong program outcomes.
Before this, as Manager, Grants and Compliance (Multilateral & Bilateral) at The Aga Khan University, I managed grants across the full award lifecycle, supporting diverse programs in health, research, education, and construction. I coordinated donor reporting, ensured compliance with complex regulations, and helped build grant management capacity across units. I played a central role in developing tools, facilitating grant review meetings, managing revisions and close-outs, and strengthening collaboration between program, finance, and operations teams.
In my earlier role as Grants and Compliance Manager (Consultant) with Planned Parenthood Global – Africa Regional Office, I worked across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Senegal, and Burkina Faso. I reviewed financial reports, monitored spending trends, supported budgeting and forecasting, and ensured strong financial systems among grantees. I also focused on sub-grant management, partner capacity building, and grant close-outs, helping regional teams meet donor requirements while maintaining program quality.
At Brooke East Africa, as Grants Officer, I managed over ten partner organizations across East and Central Africa. I provided financial oversight, risk analysis, and guidance on compliance and reporting. I supported partner budgeting, prepared detailed financial reports, and conducted due diligence and capacity strengthening for partner finance teams.
I began my career as a Project Accountant at BDO East Africa, supporting NGOs with audits, payroll, statutory compliance, donor reporting, and day-to-day financial management. This early experience gave me strong technical expertise in accounting, donor compliance, and financial systems, which continues to inform how I approach grants management today.
Across all my roles, I am recognized for building strong systems, developing high-performing teams, managing risks proactively, and ensuring that donor resources translate into meaningful, accountable, and well-run programs that make a real impact in communities.

Education:

My education is grounded in finance, accountability, and practical skills that support my work in grants and compliance.
I completed a Master of Commerce at Strathmore University Business School in 2024, where I strengthened my understanding of financial management, governance, and organizational decision-making. The program helped me connect financial oversight with program delivery, risk management, and accountability in real-world settings.
I hold a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from Strathmore University (2005–2009), which provided a solid foundation in accounting, budgeting, economics, and financial analysis. This training laid the groundwork for my career and continues to inform how I manage grants, review financial information, and support program teams.
I am currently pursuing the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification, Section 6, through self-study. This ongoing work deepens my knowledge of financial reporting, audit processes, and compliance requirements, and helps me stay current with professional standards.
In May 2022, I completed a Grants Management course at Strathmore Business School. The course covered the full grants cycle, from proposal development to reporting and close-out, and provided practical tools I apply daily in managing donor-funded projects.
I am also studying French at Alliance Française to build working language skills for international and multilingual environments. Together, my academic and professional training reflects a commitment to continuous learning and equips me to manage grants responsibly and support development and humanitarian work effectively.
