Area of Expertise:
  • Disaster, Aid, Emergencies, Relief
Professional Experience:
I have a Masters degree in Public health/Health Education and over 25 years of international humanitarian and development experience, including 15 years field experience. I have provided project oversight on humanitarian activities and budgets, and I have produced internal and external reporting. My key strengths include my ability to nurture and promote linkages, identify gaps, develop positive and effective internal and external collaborative work relationships, and see the opportunities for synergies with internal and external actors. I have represented my organization at the highest levels (Embassy staff, government officials, donors) as well as with line ministry staff, UN agencies, beneficiaries, and other key stakeholders. I have proven myself as effective at building sustainable professional working relationships for myself and my organization. Throughout my international career, I have successfully led and mentored national and multi-national teams ranging from a few to over 70 staff.

I am an experienced mentor and enjoy building the organizational and operational capacity of individuals and organizations. My experience in playing various roles extends to participating and managing complex projects that include staff management, administrative management, analyzing and synthesizing information that can be shared within an organization upwards, sideways, and downwards. I am a strong verbal and written communicator, with over seven years of being the focal person for the timely revision and submission of reports to the donor. Additionally, I have drafted concept notes and proposals to UN agencies, government donors and foundations. I have also created internal documents that provided analysis of humanitarian needs and activities.

My experience, skills and interests provide me with a grounded and well-rounded expertise in project and staff management, monitoring and synthesizing information and sharing information in writing and verbally. I am adept at working with donors -- especially having worked in the role of a donor for close to 5 years. I have reviewed budgets for appropriateness and burn rate.
