Professional Experience: |
With over 16 years of international financing experience built across the private and PPP sector globally, including in child healthcare, my professional experience is a rooted in both the public and private sectors globally. I believe that my fund-raising experience and my personal aspirations will allow for a considerable, and mutual value-add.
Based in Geneva, I currently work as the Deputy Director for Resource Mobilisation at the GAVI Alliance, helping to drive its strategic agenda to lower child mortality. I have been fortunate not just to observe the invaluable role that UNICEF is playing in this field, but also to contribute to it through our close partnership. With challenges in traditional donor markets, I am leading initiatives to engage with the private sector in new markets such as India, for instance through tapping mandatory corporate CSR contributions through a sustainable product. I am developing comprehensive strategies involving identifying “champions”, working with PPP initiatives and marketing plans. As varied are the needs of children so are the ways in which the private sector can play a role – through raising awareness via their networks, technical assistance, financing. I see my job as two-fold – bringing this understanding to the private stakeholders, and providing them with a straight-forward way to partner using their strengths to bring impact and visibility, without compromising on their shareholder responsibilities.
Prior to GAVI, by serving in senior roles at various global banks, I not only established proven achievements in mobilizing project-specific funds via sustainable platforms, but also developed strong partnership with international development banks, such as the ADB. I structured innovative financing transactions such as Funds, bespoke projects, tax-related products and switching products, globally for banks, HNWI, Family Offices, corporates and Organizations and hence understand their mentality, which is critical when approaching them as donors. In all, it is my belief that understanding their business needs, from ROIs to corporate culture, and creating a bespoke solution for them is essential.
Finally, I also bring strong and proven management experience with me. I had oversight of portfolios of over Eur 10bn, and led project negotiation, origination and management teams (financial, technical, legal specialists) for Turnkey projects aimed at initiating development, capacity building, resource allocation & training. I reported directly to the Board Member responsible, advising him on matters of regional and global strategy, financial budgeting and forecasting, policy and outreach partnerships.
