Professional Experience:
I have over 20 years experience working on various aspects of project management and development policy in the following areas: gender and girl’s education; social analyis; participation and civic engagement, and corporate governance process and policy support.

• I gained exposure to management issues, including field operations, budgeting and quality assurance as the first Head of Programs for the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE), an international NGO based in Kenya aimed at achieving gender equity and increasing female access to education through supporting policy reform measures and advocacy activities in Africa. My main responsibility was to develop a strategic plan and an initial three year operational work program and operationalize the grant making facility. While at FAWE I also had the opportunity to become conversant with issues related to female/girl’s education.

• As Senior Operations Officer, with the Country Program Coordinator, I was responsible for (a) making substantive contributions to country strategies, departmental priorities, lending and non-lending work programs; and (b) monitoring work programs, portfolio and operational performance, quality and trends.

• As a Senior Social Scientist in the Africa Region Social Development Department, I provide an understanding of the social and institutional context of planned and on-going development initiatives focusing on gender, girl’s education and involuntary resettlement.

The following skills have been especially appreciated in my current and previous assignments:

? ability to multitask and deliver quality products under tight deadlines
? strong technical knowledge of participation and social analysis and targeted poverty programs
? good leadership qualities balanced with ability to be a good team player and lead from behind.
? ability to grasp a wide range of complex topics and distill relevant issues for Board and Management decision-making.
? excellent diplomatic skills and ability to handle sensitive confidential materials and negotiations
? ability to deal with a wide range of players at a senior management/political level
? strong writing skills and the ability to listen

I would like to use my most recent experience in female education to continue working in the areas of gender, girl’s initiatives and youth programs
