Professional Experience:

Daudi Ochieng is a seasoned strategic communication, advocacy, and social and behavior change (SBC) professional with over 24 years of experience driving high-impact health and development programs across Africa. He has led multi-country initiatives funded by USAID, WHO, UNITAID, Global Fund, Gates Foundation, World Bank, and Gavi, delivering award-winning campaigns that have influenced behavior, policy, and health outcomes in over 30 countries.

Daudi currently serves as Head of Advocacy, Marketing, Communications, and Innovations for Malaria Consortium Uganda, where he has designed and led SBC strategies across major malaria, immunization, and maternal-child health initiatives. His leadership has shaped the adoption of malaria rapid diagnostic tests (mRDTs) in Uganda’s private sector, supported universal LLIN coverage campaigns, and promoted male engagement in malaria prevention. He is also the SBC lead for Inspire SBC (formerly GH-SBC), supporting regional efforts to harmonize malaria SBC strategies.

Daudi’s expertise spans the full project lifecycle—from formative research, strategy design, and campaign rollout to monitoring and adaptive learning. As RCCE Consultant for WHO Africa, he supported 47 countries in developing COVID-19 vaccine demand strategies, helping several achieve the WHO’s 70% vaccination target. He also co-authored the WHO Country Representatives’ advocacy brief in response to the EU COVID-19 vaccine passport initiative.

Earlier, as Head of Marketing and Communication at Uganda Health Marketing Group (UHMG), Daudi led nationally recognized campaigns on HIV prevention, family planning, sanitation, and maternal health. His campaign “Get Off the Sexual Network” was awarded Best Not-for-Profit and Overall Winner in African media advertising. He has also worked with the European Union, UNOPS, Save the Children, and FHI360 as a lead consultant for national communication strategies on child nutrition, energy, and tobacco control.

Daudi has pioneered digital innovation in SBC, integrating social media, IVR, SMS locators, and virtual helplines into public health campaigns. His creative leadership has been recognized with multiple Africa Excellence Awards, AfriComNet honors, and international commendations for excellence in HIV, malaria, and maternal health communication.

He has managed multidisciplinary teams of up to 30 professionals across government, civil society, and media sectors. Known for his coalition-building and policy influence, Daudi played a key role in the Great Lakes Malaria RCCE Framework and the Uganda Malaria-COVID-19 Response Task Force.

He is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Health at Texila American University (2019–2025), with a research focus on the effectiveness of social and behavior change (SBC) interventions in malaria prevention. This doctoral work builds on a strong foundation in integrated public health and communication science, further enriching his technical and analytical acumen.

He holds a Master’s in Integrated Public Health (2015–2019) from Texila American University, where he developed a systems-oriented perspective on global health challenges. This was complemented by a Master’s in Integrated Marketing and Communication (2016–2018) from Atlantic International University, equipping him with advanced expertise in brand strategy, campaign design, and audience engagement—skills critical for effective SBC programming.

Daudi also possesses two advanced postgraduate diplomas: one in Public Health Research from the James Lind Institute (2014–2015), and another in Management Studies from the University of Cumbria, UK (2012–2016). These qualifications have strengthened his capacity in health systems analysis, program design, and strategic management—key areas for leading large-scale donor-funded initiatives.

His academic trajectory began with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Makerere University (1993–1997), which laid the groundwork for his results-driven approach to program implementation and resource optimization.

In addition to formal education, Daudi has completed numerous global certifications from top-tier institutions including Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, University of Washington, WHO, UNICEF, and USAID’s Global Health eLearning Center.
