Area of Expertise:

Professional Experience:
My profession experience includes development, human rights monitoring and evaluation, education, capacity building, and program management. I have always sought out high-needs, challenging situations, from New York City Public Schools to developing environmental services projects in a remote and conflict-affected area of Colombia. I have developed a strong track record of strategic thinking and collaboration with diverse communities and organizations on national and international levels, training and managing local teams in complex, underdeveloped regions.

My project management experience ranges from large-scale USAID health and education projects in Malawi and Cambodia to the design and implementation of local environmental services and sustainable development programs in rural Colombia. In both extremes, personal relationships, prompt and consistent communication, and attention to detail were keys to successful implementation.

I have designed and carried out monitoring and evaluation projects in several contexts. I was tasked by the Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala (NISGUA) and Peace Brigades International with assessing the impact of ongoing human rights monitoring programs. In both cases, I applied methodologies that included quantitative and qualitative analysis and dozens of interviews and surveys with local stakeholders. In Colombia, I carried out a complex evaluation of the costs and benefits of a multi-million dollar environmental services project with no baseline reference data. I have also helped with M&E for USAID funded projects in Malawi and Cambodia, a UNICEF project in South Africa, and in curriculum design for New York City Public Schools.

I have extensive training and capacity building experience in several countries in human rights monitoring, climate change and environmental services, and data collection. My training and experience as a teacher allowed me to develop a the foundation for presenting information while ensuring that all capacity building is an interactive process that continually assesses participants’ understanding. I have been able, through trial and error, to present complex concepts to rural communities in Spanish and Indonesian, adapting interactive materials to local contexts and education levels. For the past year, I have been presenting international forest products trade regulations to stakeholders and conducted trainings for government officials, rural communities, and local NGOs.

Overall, I am a creative, dependable and adaptable professional that thinks strategically in a team or individually. I have a proven capacity to interact comfortably and effectively with diverse work teams, rural communities, civil society organizations, government officials, and international organizations in human rights, supply chain monitoring, program development and capacity building.
