International Labour Organization, Geneva, Switzerland 1. Technical Officer
Responsibilities: - Successfully conducted interviews and undertook secondary research on implications of labour policies for health sector. - Drafted a policy brief on “Labour Policy” as joint ILO/WHO publication under Social Determinants of Health, Sectoral Briefing Series. The policy brief focuses on health enhancing practices in labour policies. - Documented good practices utilised by Trade Unions to organise and collectively bargain for Homecare nurses in the United States - Compiled and maintained and analysed data bases on selected subjects - Participated in technical missions for research and fact-finding. - Conducted an assessment of all public health, medical and occupational health publications from 2000 -2011 on occupational exposure to TB and HIV among health workers. - Contributed to the development a guideline on mainstreaming HIV into Youth employment initiatives - Provided technical assistance to the ILO-led Inter-Agency Task Team on workplace policies and private sector mobilisation with regards to HIV and AIDS. - Undertook research & documented good practices on Private sector driven initiatives with regards to HIV /AIDS and TB - Undertook desk reviews on donors/foundations to provide inputs into the resource mobilization efforts of the department - Conducted research into all ILO departments, programmes and bureaus to take stock of all HIV and AIDS related activities as part of efforts to mainstream HIV across the ILO. - Assisted with the development of indicators and data collection tools, implementation and supervision of M&E frameworks for private sector HIV workplace programs and policies under the public –private partnership (PPP) schemes - Drafted report briefings on a number of UNAIDS Programme Acceleration Funds (PAF) projects.

Intern - Responsibilities: - Conducted a systematic review mapping the extent of health insurance coverage for medicines within all UN member States. - Provided technical support to the AMDS (Aids Medicines diagnostic Service) team on issues relating to the global price reporting mechanism database; and occasionally, cross cutting programs with UNITAID - Developed a framework of performance by which countries reimbursement systems for medicines could be evaluated. - Carried out robust analysis and interpretation of different essential medicines datasets using SPSS and Excel - Liaised with various Ministries of Health, WHO country offices and relevant stakeholders within the field. - Provided technical support to the newly revised guidelines on ARV for pregnant women, and infants and children.
