Area of Expertise:
  • Administration, Management, Finance/Accounting, Procurement
Professional Experience:
Experienced in managing finance departments at the highest level, seating in Senior Management Team meeting and making significant contributions to strategic development, implementation, and policy development. I am a strong leader of finance teams and a collaborator with reliable organisational skills that are key in problem solving and resource planning.

I worked with GOAL Iraq for nearly two years leading the Finance team in Erbil, Dohuk and Mosul assisting programs team and finance staff. I coordinated work with Syria program preparing reports and coordinating reconciliations in a highly volatile and robust environment. Further I coordinated with Ethiopia and Ireland on monthly financial report and staff development. In addition, I also managed multi-million euros projects from several donors. The team I managed included on site finance team and others working remotely which requires a different set of skills and high coordination. Reporting was done through an accounting software and excel templates that required strong knowledge of formulas and functions.

In Zimbabwe I held the position of Finance and Operations Manager with three different NGOs with large finance teams across the country. The responsibilities required preparation of financial statements for audit and publishing them. Reporting to the board of trustees and board of directors sharing the financial position of the organisation and responding to queries and pushing the board’s matters to staff. I managed multiple donors at a time upwards of thirteen (13), at one time, enforced financial policies and compliance in 32 sub-offices across Zimbabwe. The organisation I worked with include Norwegian Refugee Council, Childline Zimbabwe, JF Kapnek Trust, Save the Children and World Education / Bantwana Zimbabwe where I am attached now.

My current portfolio manages 4 large districts with 300 staff, volunteers, and consultants. The project is highly dynamic and needs a responsive financial management system. I am supported by 12 accountants whom I need to coordinate cashflows, payments, reports, and financial controls with. The role is demanding, and the reporting approach is particularly challenging by nature and design.

I have strong knowledge of Grants management for numerous donors including, CDC, USAID, GIZ, Irish Aid, EU, ECHO, WFP, UNICEF, BMZ, KNH, NMFA, SIDA, CIDA, DFID, TDH and Institutional donors. I have developed financial policies and procedures that suit these and more donors and help the organization adapt. I reviewed and remodelled processed for Finance, HR and Logistics departments and have taken the lead in ensuring strong links are established between these sections. This was done through planned trainings and some included non-financial managers.

I worked in city centre environments at the head office and branched out to other non-urban settings where I worked effectively as well. I am an adaptive individual that can relocate and live in difficult conditions and can move up or down in command as required.
