Professional Experience:
Previously a producer on the ¿Qué Pasa, Midwest? podcast at WNIN and an investigative intern at the Mississippi Center for Investigative Reporting (MCIR). Graduated with a Master of Science from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. I'm interested in long-form, data driven investigative pieces on human rights issues like ethnic cleansing. I have intercultural journalistic experience across radio, tv, print and online media, previously reporting on:

- Ethnic cleansing of the Rohingyas, specifically violence against women in the camps. After I visited Bangladesh in 2017, I received the Future News Worldwide award in 2018 - given to the best young journalists in the world by the British Council.
-The #MeToo movements in China and Saudi Arabia
-Domestic violence experienced by Native American men in the U.S.
-Environmental degradation in conflict zones in Bangladesh, Iraq, Sudan and Colombia
-Press suppression in Australia and around the world
Education:
Master of Science, concentrating on data driven investigations. Coursework in investigative journalism, data, law and ethics.
• Covered COVID-19 protocols in a Queens community, the intersections of anxiety, increased use of social media and the pandemic;
Facebook’s content moderation AI technology used to detect revenge porn and profiled a nurse who worked with violent pedophiles.
• Spent a month investigating United Parcel Services’ settlements and lawsuits for anti-competitive behavior in Spain, Brazil and Turkey by
translating court documents and interrogating 10k SEC filings. Using local news articles, CADE documents and Twitter, found out 60,000
jobs could be lost if UPS is successful in its bidding war to monopolize the entire Brazilian postal sector.
• Investigated the dangers of climate change induced cyclones on Rohingya refugees on Bhasan Char, an island in the Bay of Bengal where
refugees have been allegedly forced to live on by the Bangladeshi government, using expert interviews, OSINT, false color, NDMI and radar satellite images, NOAA historical storm tracking data and human rights reports. Reconstructed the burning of Kin Ma village in the Magway region of Myanmar on June 15, using true color and false color satellite imagery from Sentinel, active fire data from NASA, expert interviews and verified user generated content, including eye-witness videos.
Affiliations and Achievements:
2018 - recipient of the British Council’s Future News Worldwide award, given to the 100 best young journalists in the world, for coverage of the
Rohingya crisis from the refugee camps in Cox’s Bazaar, Bangladesh, which aired on The Wire.
