Professional Experience:
Meghan MacBain is a dynamic manager with 20+ years’ experience in human rights, international development and behavior change communications programs with a rights-based approach. Meghan has demonstrated experience in program design, strategy and personnel management, including oversight and supervision of USAID, EU, UK Aid and DFAT contracts and grants throughout Asia and Africa. She has managed result-oriented programs with annual budgets up to $2-$3M USD and designed projects securing over $10M USD in contracts. Meghan is passionate about using communication for change and for the development of innovative partnerships with the private sector and other key stakeholders. She has a deep-seated understanding of, and hands-on experience in, building and leading exceptional teams, participatory methodologies, gender and social inclusion, youth engagement, human rights and trafficking, community capacity-building/civil society development, monitoring and evaluation processes, and transitional recovery and development. She is adept at defining strategic program directions that incorporate a rights-based approach, community driven development and good governance.
• Over 15 years direct management experience including senior management at both head office and field level
• Vast knowledge in the development of a variety of participatory programmatic M&E methodologies utilized in a variety of programs including mass communications and advocacy
• Deep-seated understanding and hands-on experience in coaching and mentoring of teams, participatory methodologies, household livelihood security, community capacity-building and civil society development, international advocacy, transitional recovery and development, and extensive emergency response management know-how
• Demonstrated knowledge in program design and management including oversight and supervision of USAID, EC and DFID contracts and grants, and a number of other bi-lateral donor funded programs
• Adept at defining strategic program directions that incorporate a rights-based approach, community driven development and governance
• High degree of maturity, responsibility and accountability in the management of multi-tasking, and in leading teams, often in difficult and highly challenging environments
• Demonstrated effective communication, negotiation, advocacy and decision-making skills with particular expertise in developing and maintaining relationships with government officials, donors, embassies, local and international agency representatives

Education:
MA in Cultural Ethnology/ Conflict Resolution from the University of Wales located in Cardiff, UK
