Responsible for leading team on rights-based empowerment programmes for disabled in South Asia region. Serve as regional representative for 36 partner organisations and report to UK-based head office. Work involves regional strategy development and management of capacity-building programmes for partner organisations in South Asia region. Designed, developed, and implemented strategy for changing policy and practice of 50-year-old, traditional organisation; coerced shift from Welfare to Human Rights and Development approach. Experience has ranged from being at helm of planning and implementation to one of contributing extensively toward fostering expertise and technical know-how within sector.
? Managing multi-cultural teams in four countries of South Asia, and expanded programmes in 3 countries in this assignment.
? Expert in Project Cycle Management and have initiated 17 Inclusive Education Programmes, 20 Livelihoods programmes across South Asia over the last 5 years.
? Contributes to writing and presenting papers, conducting workshops and courses, and carrying out research for growth of theoretical knowledge within disability field at both national and international levels.
? Conceives and implements Inclusive Education, Livelihoods, and Advocacy programmes, along with Community-Based Rehabilitation in India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
? Serves as critical link in facilitating optimized communication links with inter- & intra-partner organisations and other resource agencies.
? Conducted 30 training programmes in PRA techniques of assessment, poverty analysis, disability prevalence identification, and needs assessment for long-term perspective planning.
? Functions as chief faculty member in “International Training for Managers in Disability and Development,” and has developed curriculum for “Mid-Level CBR Workers’ Training.”; contributed to UNESCAP policies and practices.
? Facilitated extensive discussion – among persons with disabilities and development professionals – during formulation of UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities through workshops and seminars.
? Enacted “Young Voices Programme,” whereby views of young disabled adults were documented and subsequently presented before UN Adhoc Committee.
? Designed and developed a full-fledged Livelihoods Resource Centre programme in 13 locations across South Asia for promoting employment opportunities or people with disabilities.
