Professional Experience: |
Broad experience in designing and developing awareness campaigns and communications strategies to accompany in-country programmes and within international organisation and NGOs; developing the resulting communications policies, procedures, systems and products (branding, website content, toolkits, brochures, corporate literature, newsletters, press releases and media packages).
I also evaluate publishing activities within international organisations (ADB, IAEA, IOM, Council of Europe, UNESCO) and communications programmes attached to country programmes and institutions. Among my clients have been the EU (Trade Enhancement Programme in Egypt) and DFID (evaluating the communications elements of a 4-year programme for devolution of services in Pakistan).

This included the initial branding, website content and interactivity, various newsletters (electronic and paper), publishing policy, media strategies and all other communications avenues available at the time.
My media experience includes international conference coverage, launches of major book titles (on doping in sport, the death penalty, money laundering), ongoing writing of press releases for major UK publishers and major international when required. I have managed a conference unit (Manpower & Management foundation, South Africa) with conferences from 50 to 900 delegates, been a rapporteur and session precis writer for international meetings (WHO) and managed, written and edited proceedings (ILC, EU). In building awareness for the EU’s Association Agreement with Egypt, I managed a series of conferences and trainings on finance, human rights and civil society (EU, Cairo).
I also carry out writing projects, such as a 15-country report on access to education and employment for people with intellectual disabilities (for the Open Society) a book on 25 years of HIV/AIDS health education (for IIEP/UNESCO) and other communications products such as toolkits (UNESCO), Q&A for website (UNAIDS).
