Professional Experience:
My experience, which spans approximately eighteen (18) years, has entailed working with national and international organisations, both non-governmental and quasi-governmental, and has hinged on policy reform and advocacy, institutional development, and programme management, including grant-making.

Thematically, I have been engaged in constitution-making and implementation, development of legislation on various policy issues, the promotion and protection of women's human rights, and a wide array of governance concerns - from education and climate change to public finance management, to name a few examples.

I have designed training programmes for policy makers and, as a senior manager, consulted widely with policy makers. This has entailed, for example, giving key remarks in high-level meetings and holding meetings with chairpersons of parliamentary committees. Also in institutional building, I have trained civil society personnel on how to mainstream gender in programme cycles. My knowledge in programme management coupled with exposure to critical issues in different sectors has enabled me to offer practical solutions to these organisations, beyond the utilisation of gender mainstreaming frameworks.

My understanding of elections and electoral management has seen me involved at the African Union (AU) plane, where I have participated in international election observation, and further consulted in the field of AU treaties.

My roles and responsibilities have entailed senior management. I held the position of Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) with the State University of New York (SUNY) Kenya Parliamentary Strengthening Programme, having risen from a Senior Programme Officer position. As DCOP, I had immense contribution and notable achievements that ensured that the Programme maintained a stellar performance until close-out. In particular, I designed a quality of legislation monitoring tool that USAID adapted for its indicator protocols. I backstopped all programme-related work, designed projects, and was responsible for developing monthly reports, quarterly, reports, annual reports and the USAID programme progressive reports.

Other institutions in which I have exercised crucial roles are: the Independent Review Commission (Kriegler Commission, now defunct), in which I was the Electoral Researcher. My input contributed to the Commission's Report that consequently led to the overhaul of the electoral management body in Kenya and the review of elections legislation. I was a researcher at the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission (CKRC, now defunct), a dissemination programme officer at the Kenya Red Cross Society, and, an outreach and impact litigation programme officer at the Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW). I have in addition practiced as an advocate in Kenya.
