Professional Experience:
I had the privilege of working with two premiere policy think-tanks in India- Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), a think-tank under the Ministry of External Affairs of India; and Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF); as a Research Fellow. While working in ICWA, I had prepared a policy paper on ‘India-Vietnam Strategic Partnership: Exploring Vistas for an Expanded Cooperation’, which was submitted to the two governments in December 2012; and a ‘List of Recommendations’ which was submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office before his acclaimed visit to Myanmar in May 2012. I had also co-edited two books on the same topics. Similarly, while working at VIF I had written two articles analyzing the triple disasters in Japan. Besides, I had prepared three synopses on how to strengthen India-Japan relations in high-tech sectors, along-with a number of other publications.
Later, I moved to a corporate as a senior research analyst in a shipping consultancy. There my role was to look after global crude oil market and analyze its effect on tanker shipping demand. I had authored many of the company’s flagship publications like- Tanker Forecaster, Product Tanker Market report, monthly shipping insights, besides a number of consultancy projects.
Since 2010, I have been a member of ‘Grand Designs of Japan’ Project in Keio Business School, Tokyo, where I had often spoken on contemporary issues of mutual concern, from bilateral and regional perspective. I also had the privilege of being associated with Gakushuin University, Tokyo, where I was invited as a visiting scholar in the ‘institute for oriental cultures’ in 2019, and as a member of ‘Countries around China’ project in 2012.
Education:
I am a doctorate (PhD) in International Relations with specialization in Southeast and East Asia. My doctoral thesis was on ‘ASEAN-Japan Relations, 1991-2004’. During my PhD, I had received Japanese government's Monbukagakusho Scholarship to study at 'Tokyo University of Foreign Studies' and at 'Chuo University' in Tokyo for two years, under eminent Professor Takashi Inoguchi. In fact, my whole doctoral thesis was written under his erudite guidance and support. He had very kindly provided me access to ‘Asia Barometer Survey’ data, (an initiative co-sponsored by Japanese government, premiere Japanese Universities, and research institutions for survey in 29 countries), which I could use as a primary source.
I have two masters degree- a 'Masters of Philosophy (MPhil)' in International Relations and a 'Masters of Arts (MA)' in History.
My M.Phil dissertation was on ‘Vietnam-Japan Relations in the Post Cold War Period’. For my M.Phil dissertation, I had received Indian Council of Historical Research Grant.
Besides, I am a recipient of Junior/Senior research fellowship by University Grants Commission, Government of India; and have 'National Eligibility Test (NET)' certificate, which confers the eligibility to teach in the Indian Universities.
I have a number of academic publications.
