Professional Experience:
February 2010 to July 2018, I worked as an Administrative and Finance Officer with the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) for more than eight (8) years at various locations in Africa (DRC, Uganda, Niger, Chad, Zimbabwe and Central Africa Republic). I Coordinated effective and timely administrative leadership in Finance, Human Resources, Logistics, Procurement, Travel and General Administration at OCHA DRC (mission with 160 national and international staff at 15 different in-country field duty stations at the time, including Kinshasa);prepared approved Cost Plans for the period from 2010 to 2017 for the various offices I served, developed, implemented, and maintained internal controls to monitor and ensure that financial resources were utilized to implement activities in accordance with work plans and cost plans, and in line with UN financial rules and regulations;supervised management of petty cash, preparation of payroll for national staff and followed up with UNDP on monthly payment orders for international staff; verified inter-office vouchers (IOVs) prepared by UNDP; L3 Emergency deployment in CAR in 2014, coordinated the administrative activities, recruited national staff and managed International Staff, provided professional administrative services to over 100 international staff deployed in CAR, facilitated local and international procurement; supervised logistics, movement of staff and equipment; proposed and managed a Guest House which served as a transit quarters for the teeming mission participants who came on rotation basis;Supervised management of office assets, including maintenance of inventory, physical verification of assets and disposal of assets;provided information needed to respond to audit observations/findings and implemented audit recommendations. In Uganda, I implemented audit recommendations as part of the office closure I administered;
I administered closure of 2 country offices of OCHA (Uganda and Zimbabwe) where I liquidated and transferred equipment to partners agreed by the HC, in line with UN/UNDP/OCHA administrative regulations, staffs counselled and laid off as necessary with regards to the transitional arrangements;coordinated the implementation of UN Secretariat ERP ‘UMOJA’ for the deployment/implementation of ‘Umoja’ at OCHA’s office in Niger in 2015;administered Agreements and contractual documents (including Memorandum of Understanding) helped retrieved over US$ 20,000 in debt due to a UN sister organization in Chad in 2013;My management know-how helped OCHA to save over USD 6,000 per month in telephone bills; Successfully Implemented the UN Minimum Operation Security Standards (MOSS) compliance for vehicles, office and residential premises; 2007 to 2010; worked with UN Department of Peace keeping as a Finance Officer with UN mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) and UN mission in la Cote dIvoire (ONUCI) where I managed Quick Impact Projects (QIPs), petty cash replenishments process, and processed monthly subsistence allowance for unform police and military officers, other payments; January 2007 to December 2007 working with an NGO as a Project Manager, organised the first ever international marathon in Ghana on 1st September 2007. 2004 to 2006, provided management services to UNESCO Cluster Office as Assistant Admin and Finance Officer. From 2002 to 2004, I served Ghana Value Added Tax Service as a Tax Officer, educated tax payers, visited and assessed incomes of clients, analysed and calculated taxes. 2000 to 2002; as an admin and Finance Officer of Genuine Products Limited, I prepared budgets, managed resources, prepared final accounts and supervised staff, processed and paid salary to staff. I prepared winning Business Plans which enabled companies to qualify for loan packages.
