Expanded Profile: Currently, Manish is in the Board of Mu Gamma Consultants Ltd, Gurugram, India/Vancouver, Canada and in the Board of Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, India. As a Senior International Consultant to The World Bank, one of his recent assignments, he advised the Government of Jordan on vocational education needs for school education. He was appointed a Member of the National Focus Group for Vocational Education in India, constituted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, for developing position paper to support National Curriculum Framework for School Education, aligned to the New Education Policy. The position paper has since been submitted to the Government of India.
Mr. Manish Kumar completed his five years tenure as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of National Skill Development Corporation on 30th June 2021. During his five years tenure at NSDC, Manish particularly focused on improving the quality of private sector delivery of skills across priority sectors and making skills aspirational, covering Agriculture, Capital Goods, Retail, Logistics, Banking & Financial Services, Telecom, Food & Civil Supplies, etc. He also expanded NSDC’s network across the world, with partnerships in Sweden, Morrocco, Canada, USA, Japan, Africa, etc..
Prior to joining the NSDC, he worked for the World Bank as Country Coordinator and Senior Institution Development Economist, Water and Sanitation Program, New Delhi, and was the Co Task Team Leader for World Bank supported Clean India (Swachh Bharat) Program, delivering USD 1.5 Bn in loan to Government of India for sanitation reforms. He earlier worked for the Bank as an International Consultant (Development Economist) in Middle East and North African countries covering Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, Nigeria, etc.
Manish also served in the Government of India, from 1991 to 2011, occupying various senior positions. He was selected as a Mason Fellow by Harvard University in 2003 for his leadership in empowering tribal women of Tripura. Manish holds a degree in Bachelor of Technology in Mining Machinery from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad; Master in Public Administration (Mason Fellowship) from Harvard University, USA, and PhD in Public Policy (Graduate Scholarship) from The George Washington University, Washington DC, USA.
