Professional Experience: |
I am medical doctor with 23 years of experience in the health sector including health promotion and disease prevention, provision of clinical care, healthcare quality improvement, program management, technical leadership and capacity building in Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Italy.
Independent consultant (January 2017 to present). Clients include Ministry of Health Uganda, KPMG, mothers2mothers South Africa and Uganda, PSI Uganda, ANECCA. Key assignments include:
•Team Leader for the selection of sub-recipients for implementation of the Global Fund HIV/TB and Malaria grants (2018 and 2020-2021) and assessment of Global Fund grant sub-recipients (2020).
•Consultant for the review the National Consolidated HIV Guidelines, the Desk Job Aid and Training Curriculum for the prevention and treatment of HIV in Uganda, and the development of the roadmap for dissemination of the guidelines (2020).
•Planning and optimization of HIV and AIDS programs including service quality improvement, service integration and prioritizing high impact interventions targeting key and priority populations.
•Revision of content and methods to improve community health literacy.
•Support development of multi-sectoral partnerships and linkages that provide access to health, education, social protection, legal and economic empowerment services for vulnerable children and adolescents, especially girls.
Health Adviser, DFID Uganda (March 2014-September 2016): Technical leadership for the HIV and AIDS, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) and Global Health Security portfolio worth $142 million including development of Business Case for UK investment in Family planning worth $ 57 million.
Head of Paediatrics, Mildmay Uganda (September 2006 to February 2014): Overall supervision of paediatric HIV and AIDS treatment and care for approximately 5,000 HIV-infected children and adolescents and Team Lead for the Elimination of Mother-to-child Transmission of HIV (eMTCT) program in the central regions of Uganda.

I additionally have extensive training in HIV prevention, treatment and care and healthcare quality improvement.
