Broad experience, covering a wide range of legal issues including corporate commercial, real estate development, banking/finance and employment for projects in Europe, MENA and North America. Excellent legal writing skills and ability to easily translate and communicate the intentions of clients/colleagues in a clear and concise way. After completing my Business and Finance Law Degree (LLB) from Brunel University, England and passing my Legal Practice Course at the Guildford College of Law I trained in the City of London at Clyde & Co and was admitted as a Solicitor (England and Wales) in 1998. Thereafter, I worked in the City before moving to Qatar in early 2003 to continue working as a lawyer.
I am keen to work with an organisation committed to engaging with economically disadvantaged regions of the world to encourage economic development and thereby assist in reducing economic inequality.
Having lived and worked in MENA for 17 years ago, I am well used to - and very comfortable - working within a diverse working (and living) environment and have a cross-cultural sensitivity that I think could be an excellent fit within such an organisation. I have experience of working in North Africa of late and feel that I could quickly adapt and make myself a useful part of any organisation.
I have most recently worked as Chief Legal Officer for Al Rayyan Tourism Investment Company (ARTIC) in Qatar – an international real estate/hotel group – advising, coordinating and managing all aspects of both Qatari and international (MENA, European and North American) real estate/hospitality projects. I spent Q4 of 2018 working as an advocate for a legal NGO in Greece advising refugees; and prior to that I most recently worked at Hassan Al Khater Law Office in Doha, where I was made Managing Partner in 2015.
In addition to my most recent experience at ARTIC, I believe that the experience I have to date advising on a wide range of legal issues (mainly in the fields of corporate/commercial (including retail and healthcare), employment, real estate and both conventional and Islamic banking/finance) gives me an all round solid background. I have the ability to learn and acquire new skills rapidly and the flexibility to transfer learning from one situation to another: from my time spent in Qatar I have learnt to be very adaptable and am always turning my hand to new areas of law and I would be very enthusiastic to continue this trend.
