Professional Experience:
My professional experience is very diverse. I am a Spanish Lecturer at Moi University, Tourism department. My main duties include teaching Spanish language and culture to students. I have previous professional experience with the United Nations Human Settlements program (UN-HABITAT) where I worked as a program assistant. My duties among others included, providing secretariat services like drafting agendas for meetings, taking minutes for the various committees for instance Programme Review Committee. I also provided administrative services to my unit for instance, filing, organizing for meetings, photocopying and making travel arrangements for consultants and or senior staff. preparing power points for various presentations for example trainings on Result Based Management, Programme Review Committee orientations on its functioning and duties etc, or for other purposes as was required.
Others included preparing summaries on programme planning and project related activities and writing reports, keeping internal databases for Programme Planning Unit, which involved storing, and managing data relevant to programme and project activities of UN-Habitat. Keeping a data base of resolutions and legislative decisions that were connected to programme / project management in UN-Habitat.
Before joining UN-HABITAT I was working as a Spanish Lecturer at the United States
International University – Nairobi where my main duty was teaching Spanish language and culture to students. Previously, I had worked as a Public Relations Officer at Moi Teaching
and Referral Hospital (MTRH) where among other duties I mainly handled patients and staff complaints and participated in organizing social responsibility functions of the hospital. I also received and accompanied visitors around the hospital. I also had the privilege of working at the Kenyan parliament where my duties included providing secretariat and administrative services to the members of parliament, research, training junior parliamentary staff on the functions of parliament, taking minutes for parliamentary committees and doing research on various issues as required by parliament .
Education:
Master’s in teaching of Spanish as a foreign language from Universidad Complutense Madrid in Spain. Attained in 2007.
Masters in Peace, Conflict and Development from Universitat Jaume 1 in Castellon, Spain.
Attained 2007
Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations. Honors (Cum Laude with GPA of 3.529) from United States International University-Nairobi.
