Professional Experience:
After a short military career with the French army, I have joined the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and served for 14 years in the Following capacities:
Humanitarian Coordinator in the Great Lakes Region and Afghanistan/Pakistan (particular focus on refugee assistance, food security, Civil military coordination, migration and reconstruction) ;
Deputy Coordinator in Bangladesh (Particular focus on rural and infrastructure development, disaster preparedness and response);
Swiss Representative to the World Food Programme;
Member of the Swiss delegation to the Executive Committee of UNHCR;
Member of the Swiss team of expert seconded as UNDAC to UNOCHA.
Then started a new professional chapter by joining for 10 years UNDP as Head of programme in Algeria, Sudan, Nepal, Afghanistan, Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago, (special focus on security reform, rule of law, disaster preparedness and response, management of trust funds, civil military coordination, mine action, capacity development, Coordination, mobilisation of resources, UN advocacy etc).
Finally was seconded by UNDP to UNMAS/ DPKO as Head of Humanitarian programme in Somalia and finally as programme manager for Lebanon, Cyprus and the Middle east.(focus on mine action and partnerships, development of new programmes i.e. Irak and Syria).
Now retired from the UN and working as an independant consultant.
