I am an international development professional with over twenty years of experience managing and implementing private sector and international development programs focused on Community Development, Civil Society Empowerment, Conflict Mitigation and Peace Building in conflict and post-conflict regions. I managed programs in Afghanistan, Libya, Sri Lanka, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the United States. I am a US citizen, a native Arabic speaker and able to travel on short notice. In Libya I served with the USAID/OTI Libya Transition Initiative program implemented by Chemonics International Inc. as the Operations Director/DCOP where I was managing small in-kind grants programs with strategy direction towards broadening political stability, economic and social dialogue. I provided guidance and oversight to field office management on effective coordination with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on capacity building, training and implementation of activities in Libya. In Sudan, I served as the Operations director/DCOP and Acting Country Representative for the USAID/OTI’s Transition and Conflict Mitigation Program, and USAID/FFP’s Famine Early Warning System Network program managed by Chemonics International Inc., based in Khartoum; represented and managed overall project activities, conducted coordination and liaising with local government and international partners, managed programs operations and facilitated contractual compliance. I Provided guidance and oversight to field office management on effective coordination with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on capacity building, training and implementation of activities in Libya. I managed proposals and ensured compliance with USAID, sub-contractors and grantees and performed research, identified, developed and responded to grants opportunities in the areas of D&G and Workforce Development, Health & Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihood. In Zimbabwe, I served as the Country Director for International Medical Corps managing a capacity building program in Health and Water, Hygiene and Sanitation program funded by USAID/OFDA and EU. In Sri Lanka, I served as the Project Advisor/ interim Project Director for a Workforce Development Program and Capacity Building with a private consulting firm. In this role, I represented and managed a Workforce Development Project‘s overall program activities, developed strategic planning policies and conducted program start-up. In Afghanistan, I served as the Afghanistan Operations Advisor for the USAID Afghanistan Social Outreach project managed by AECOM International Development in Kabul.I Coordinated with USAID to facilitate the Project start-up and assisted with the project registration in Afghanistan. I Drafted the field office Procurement Manual, developed the staff SOW's and established field offices in Kabul, Ghazni, Logar, and Kapisa, creating field office policies and establishing procedures consistent with USAID regulations.
