Professional Experience:
A proponent of communication for development, and a driven communication specialist with over 10 years proven international experience. I can plan, develop and implement targeted communication activities that inform, build credibility and cultivate buy-in with a view to achieving organization goals. Skilled in managing communication efforts for local and international organizations in the public and private sectors in Africa. I have a particular interest in creating sustainable socio-economic impact. As a consultant I have travelled across Kenya and beyond into wider East Africa and Horn of Africa, South Africa, the Middle East, and the UK.


My diverse experience allows me to engage a broad array of audiences. I have successfully delivered communication support for projects in several thematic areas including but not limited to: business environment transformation, public sector reforms, investment promotion, climate change mitigation, energy sector reforms, agriculture sector reforms, infrastructure development, regional economic integration, youth leadership and entrepreneurship, and digital transformation.


At present I am a senior communication consultant at Exclamation Marketing Ltd – a multi-disciplinary consulting firm based in Nairobi, Kenya. The firm focuses on communication and strategic management support to major development organizations and private sector clients in Africa. Since 2019 I also play a voluntary leadership role in the Kenya PR sector as the current Secretary of the Association of PR & Communication Management firms of Kenya (APReCoM), in addition to being a member of the Executive Committee.


Key clients I have worked with include the World Bank Group/ IFC, the Multi-donor Trust Fund – South Sudan (MDTF-SS), the African Philanthropy Forum/ World Affairs Council, TradeMark East Africa, Dalberg Global Development Advisors, Microsoft 4 Afrika, Huawei Technologies Kenya, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade), Kenya Climate Innovation Centre, Kenya Ministry of Petroleum & Mining, National Oil Corporation of Kenya, Kenya Ministry of Industry, Trade & Co-operatives, Safaricom, Google and Laboratoire Rivadis (France).


I embrace and leverage the various mediums appropriate for two-way communication with desired targets, and for eliciting inclusive participation. My skillset cuts across strategic communication management, social media communication, communication advisory and media relations, crisis preparedness and crisis management, stakeholder engagement, key opinion leader engagement, project management and business development.


My current role involves leading a team of consultants to achieve the following:

As the current industry association Secretary my role involves: Convening board meetings to review engagements, ratify decisions and deliberate on next steps; Socializing external stakeholders (including government) and potential members with association ethos and intentions; General administration of the business membership organization; Handling correspondences and issuing notices; Ensuring compliance with association’s principles, structures and processes.
Education:
BA Business Administration with Marketing Communications from Middlesex University, London. Upper second class honours.
Affiliations and Achievements:
Involved in policy-making in my ongoing capacity as Secretary and Executive Committee member for the Association of PR and Communication Management firms of Kenya (APReCoM). This voluntary role involves convening board meetings to review engagements, ratify decisions and deliberate on next steps; Socializing external stakeholders and potential members with association ethos and intentions; and General administration of the business membership organization.


In 2018 I was part of a team which drafted the submission by communication firms for inclusion in a draft legislative framework for the communication industry in Kenya. Have also represented the industry association in round-table meetings with the President of Kenya and Speaker of the National Assembly.


Involved in national development initiatives e.g In 2012, alongside other youth leaders and drivers of youth initiatives, I was a member of the Technical Working Group which formulated Kenya’s Youth Leadership and Entrepreneurship Strategy as part of Vision 2030 development blueprint. My input focused on the role of communication and partnerships in government policy-making to stimulate initiatives which enable and empower youth in business, and build useful partnerships.
