Professional Experience:
Burundian magistrate, prosecutor, and judicial reform expert with over 10 years of experience working on international donor-funded judicial and legal reform projects. Brings in-depth experience promoting legal awareness, increasing access to justice, and conducting trainings for judicial personnel on child protection, gender-based violence, trafficking in persons, court case management, and human rights.
Initially served as a technical consultant for Tt DPK’s ProJustice project in Côte d’Ivoire managing a program to improve efficiency and service provided by 11 pilot courts. Recently served in a long-term position on the Côte d’Ivoire ProJustice project as Judicial Transparency and Sustainability Expert, ensuring that the project’s many interventions were properly designed for sustainability after project close.
Was a long-term staff member of the USAID Haiti PROJUSTICE justice sector strengthening project for 3 years, where she managed the project’s legal activities in the Northern part of the country, including cultivating contacts with judicial personnel, conducting trainings, and managing the office and staff. Developed and maintained strong relationships with members of bar associations, the Ministry of Justice, the High Judicial Council, judges, prosecutors, judicial police, and community-based organizations. Managed a team of 12 lawyers.
Previously worked as Judicial Affairs Officer and Regional Delegate for the UNDP Rule of Law project in Haiti providing technical support to judges and prosecutors in the processing of criminal cases in the Court of First Instance. Strengthened collaboration between police, the prison, and the court to improve processing of cases, and supported a Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee.
