Professional Experience:
I started my career 18 years ago as a general practitioner in a rural district hospital in Cameroon where I served for 6 years. There I provided clinical care to patients including antiretroviral treatment to hundreds to people living with HIV/AIDS. I also served as the director of that hospital managing over 100 staff including doctors and nurses.
From this position, I moved to the National AIDS Control Commission of the Cameroon Ministry of Health. Here, I engaged in strategic planning of the national HIV program-for example supporting the development of strategic documents such as the HIV/AIDS national strategic plan, the M&E national monitoring and evaluation plan, HIV testing and treatment guidelines, elaboration of funding proposals such as the Global Fund Concept and PEPFAR Cooperative Agreement. Actually, in 2010 I was the technical lead on the development of very first COP for Cameroon.
I later joined the Global Fund Local Agent team at PwC Cameroon where I served as public health and M&E Specialist. My responsibilities here include monitoring, evaluating and auditing the HIV, TB and malaria programs funded by the Global Fund. My responsibilities at this position were to ensure program performance monitoring through the review of progress reports, data and services quality through onsite data verification and services quality assessment in three countries namely Cameroon, Central Africa Republic and Congo.
I moved here to join CDC (Cameroon Office) as Senior HIV/AIDS program management Specialist where I was coordinating the PEPFAR-funded PMTCT programs and this across the USG agencies at the US Embassy. At CDC Cameroon, I served as activity manager of EGPAF, involved in COP development, but most importantly engaged in performance monitoring of PEPFAR implementing partners while interacting with other HIV stakeholders on matter such development of national guidelines, national program reviews/assessment, supply chain management, community health workers engagement.
My last full-time position was that of Public Health and M&E Specialist with the Global Fund to fight HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria in Geneva. Here I was responsible of grants performance monitoring in 2 countries namely Sudan and Cote D’Ivoire. I travelled to these countries regularly to oversee the programs implementation and when necessary make recommendations to improve performance.
Beside the above mentioned full time positions, I have served as independent consultant for WHO in Burundi where I supported the national immunization program through capacity building and monitoring of EPI activities; for UNICEF in Nigeria were I developed the national acceleration for pediatric HIV/AIDS; for the Office of the Inspector General of the Global Fund (Geneva) where I led the technical audit of Global fund programs in DRC and Cote D’Ivoire. Currently, I am on consultancy assignments with France Expertise in Guinea and Niger; and WHO in Cote d’Ivoire for the assessment and capacity development of HIV testing and treatment services in those country.
I am also a public health research. I have conceptualized and conducted several research projects, and published over 15 articles in peer-review journal and presented my work in several international conferences.
Education:
I graduated from medical school in Cameroon in 2002 and later on completed a Master of Science in International Health and a PhD in medical research-international health in Germany, respectively in 2009 and 2018.
