Professional Experience:
I have started my career at grassroots level and made my way to national and international posts. I have a strong theoretical background (PhD in Risk and Emergency Management) and hands-on experience in humanitarian and development assistance,resilience, emergency preparedness, early recovery (livelihoods), and disaster prevention/mitigation.I enjoy working in the nexus of development and resilience to risk. I am well familiar with gender issues and have experience in integrating gender into programming. I have about 14 years’ work experience with a wide range of stakeholders within the broad spectrum of development and humanitarian issues in the context of farming society, pastoralists, refugees and host communities in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, and Italy. I also have short-term work exposures to Tanzania and Bangladesh. I have sound technical competency on capacity building as I have been working with a number of organizations on capacity building initiatives, World Food Programme Somalia seconded by MSB and the latest being with United Nations system in Uganda where I have been working with UN Agencies, implementing partners, other development partners of government and government line ministries.

As an external consultant, I have conducted a number of consultancies on monitoring and evaluation and different operational studies to provide policy recommendations for NGOs, local government and UN agencies.

Likewise, I have creditable quantitative and qualitative studies capability, good command in use and application of SPSS, ArcMap, GIS and other statistical software. I have practical experience on application of composite Indicator approach which are believed to ameliorate the challenges of objectively measuring development/humanitarian gains or limitations thereof to aid informed and equitable policy decisions. Finally, being equipped with technical expertise and the ability to work within multi-cultural, multi-national and multi-sectoral areas, I am confident that I am ready for challenging positions.

PhD in Risk and Emergency Management - dissertation title - conceptualizing and measuring community disaster resilience. MSc in Disaster Risk Management and Sustainable Development with thesis title People's Vulnerability Dimensions to Flood Risk and Bachelor Degree in Agriculture
