Professional Experience:
My career since I graduated from Agricultural Science in 1987 has been involved in international trading both exporting and importing from Australia and New Zealand to many countries around the world. I would estimate during 20 years of trading I would have exported over 600,000 mt of product throughout the world.

During these years I have used this knowledge to promote market intelligence to farmers in Victoria and to assist in their on farm decision making.

Since July this year I have been consulting full time for a large construction company in business development and implementing an import procurement program from China. The objective has been to lower production costs and for certain building items the result has been a decline of up to 40-60 % in purchasing price.

While consulting in international trade I have been providing a weekly column for Rural Press Australia for 12 months. The purpose of this work is to give an analysts view of international markets and how market events affect livestock prices.

Prior to this I have worked for several large international trading companies; Louis Dreyfus International and Conagra Trade Group, as well as owning and running my own international trading company Q-Exports International.

During my tenure at both Louis Dreyfus International and Conagra my wife and I resided in the USA for 18 months. I had an opportunity to see first hand and truly understand the USA domestic meat market and the importance of imported beef within it.

At the start of my career I worked for three years as a political lobbyist for the Victorian Farmers Federation. It is here where I learnt that as an individual you can make a difference in an industry and where problem solving can be both challenging and very rewarding.
