Milestones and Achievements • Published the first and only public interest litigation strategy book and initiated the Pro Bono Advocates Award of the Law Society of Kenya in 2013. • Winner of the Africa NGO Leadership Award in 2016. • Served as a leader in 18 community and prison justice centers; managed a project surrounding these associations which won the BBC One World Media award in London-Law Behind Bars in 2013. • Instrumental in a land mark judgement giving prisoners the right to vote in Kenya (2010 and 2013). • Conducted a successful presentation to the parliamentary committee of budget which led the Kenya government to set aside USD 100,000 towards the purchase of sunscreen for people living with albinism. -Innovated M-HAKI concept, use of SMS technology to provide legal advice and disseminate legal information to clients from all walks of life, a unique idea world wide by a touch of a button as can be viewed on http://www.m-haki.co.ke. - -Successful outcome of MISEREOR evaluation of Germany, indicating that the project implementation of the past 72 months, was excellent. The consequence is that MISEREOR the core (main donor of KITUO) this 2016, has funded KITUO to the tune of Euro 650, 000 for the next 36 months, effective July, 2016. -Instrumental in the first class action at the international level-High Court of London, where KITUO is currently seeking; alongside an international law firm, reparation for 200 victims. -Success in the Bulla Fot clan case; High Court affirmed the rights to own ancestral property in Garissa; a community, severally evicted by government since 1963, and suffered grave violations of human rights. Court held in 2013,petitioners' rights had been violated by the state has, & awarded compensation. -Chaired and published the final report of the LSK taskforce investigating the Lang'ata Road Primary School Police conduct and likely violation of Children Rights, following the incident of 19th January, 2015.
