Area of Expertise:
  • Administration, Management, Finance/Accounting, Procurement
  • Director, CEO, COP, President
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Policy, Research, Analysis
  • Social, Education, Gender, Youth, Child
Professional Experience:
My highest degree is a Ph.D in Educational Administration and Supervision. I have acquired global and diverse teaching and administrative experiences at all levels, K-16. I have assumed notable successful leadership roles in program development, implementation, evaluation, and accreditation, including student learning outcomes assessments appropriately aligned with program goals and course objectives. I have received several awards of recognition, topped by winning a highly competitive Endowed Professor in Education title. My interest in the success of girls and women emerge from the odds that in a class of 23 girls at the 8th grade level, I am the only one who went to high school, the national Alliance Girls High School, 300 miles away from home! I have listened to stories of the 22 left behind and vowed to seek opportunities to "make a difference".
Education:
I started my school years in Kisumu, Kenya, where, with the support of my family and teachers who believed in me, beat the gender odds and became passionate about women’s and girls’ issues. I completed my high school, bachelor's and master's degrees in Nairobi, Kenya and earned my doctorate from the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada.
Affiliations and Achievements:
In the interest of making s difference,I conducted a series of Empowerment and Skill-Building Workshops in the early 1990s for Women in the Philip's Neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. I noted their hunger for growth and professional development and appreciated the impact. Thinking proactively, I enrolled in a 12-Week Business Entrepreneurship Training and completed the training with a well-organized Graduation and Certificate. The main outcome of my training was a SWOT Analysis and Executive Summary for a passionate business proposal entitled “MAMA’s Legacy – Overcome to Become” in honor of my late mom’s struggles and triumphs as, being widowed too early in life, she overcame cultural gender biases and saw all eight of us through school. . . . (I was only a 3rd grader when my dad died!!) The main idea is to empower women and girls to discover their inner strengths, set higher expectations for themselves, follow their dreams, and acquire the skills necessary to earn a living and set examples for their families. This is my ultimate Dream!
