I am a seasoned Not for Profit Leader with over 25 years of qualification experience working for non-profits promoting economic growth, poverty eradication, education and health care in a global arena. Over the last 15 years, I have successfully scaled up 3 newly formed 501c (3) non-profit organizations to a greater height.
I have worked for 21 years in Botswana, Africa. In my last role in Botswana, Africa, worked for Harvard School of Public health, as Chief Financial Officer and oversaw the finance, fund raising, HR, IT, audit including Federal audit and training team members over 10 countries in Africa. I was the integral part and worked closely with PI’s in research/clinical trials for HIV/AIDS virus and other tropical diseases and played an active role in administration of offices in those countries.
In my most recent role as the Chief Finance Officer of National College Advising Corps, a Not for Profit based in Chapel Hill, NC, I developed proper accounting systems in accordance with US GAAP, federal regulations and OMB circulars compliance. With an annual budget of more than USD 50 Million per annum, I have been actively involved in the acquisition and sustenance of our major funding from various donors including Federal Grants. In addition, I am responsible for the company’s overall financial health including budgetary performance, forecasting, audits, QuickBooks implementation, cost and waste management, payroll, HR and other related matters. I played an influential role in the strategic direction of the organization and reported to the CEO and Board of Directors. Currently, we are helping over 300,000 low income high schools students at over 750 high schools in 16 states to enroll at college and complete their post-secondary education; we are also projected to help more than 1 million students by 2025 as part of our long-term strategic objective.
Additionally, I am serving and have served as a Board member/Chair of Audit and Finance Committee, Non-Executive Director and Vice Chairperson on the Board of Not for Profit Educational and Research organizations and hence understand the key deliverables, intricacies of the work, and the required expectations of managing an organization successfully.
