Professional Experience:
I'm an Humanitarian and Development professional with a long experience in building networks and partnerships with donors, local authorities, and civil society organizations, negotiating project proposals and managing different types of grants.
In all my assignments I was able to reach and exceed all the results previously established by my supervisors. Specifically, I have always increased the number of projects, funds and donors at the end of my mandate.
During my actual assignment with Action Against Hunger, I'm restructuring the programs chart in order to improve the efficiency of the team. In addition to that, I have defined and implemented an effective results oriented COVID emergency response strategy for 3 Syrian regions integrating 4 sectors of intervention.
In my previous assignment with Mercy Corps I successfully led and supervised a programme portfolio including education, economic development, social cohesion and WASH targeting Syrian refugees, IDPs, returnees and host communities, financed by AFD, EU, GAC, GIZ, USAID and SIDA; increasing the early recovery programme portfolio from 12 million USD to 40 million USD. During my assignment I have increased the quality of the projects design and implementation introducing new work methods from the preparation of new proposals to be submitted to different donors up to the efficient planning of the programme activities. In addition, I have relevantly increased the early recovery activities, designing an effective strategy for transitioning from humanitarian to early recovery. I have also diversified the source of income, obtaining funds from new donors such as French Development Agency (AFD), GIZ and SIDA. Furthermore during my assignment, I have chaired and defined the future strategy of the Ngo Early Recovery Forum (NERF).
In my previous assignment at United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), I worked as Advisor for the programme implementation in the irregular migration sector focused on creating new job opportunities in the most prone migration areas of Ethiopia. During my assignment I have introduced and trained the national staff on the project cycle management techniques, specifically on how to plan and monitor effectively the programme activities. I have also expanded the UNIDO network and relationship in Ethiopia to new donors and new governmental bodies, representing the organization in high level meeting.
Before this I worked for the NGO COOPI, where I started as GBV and FSL PM in Uganda, becoming later Country Director in Sudan and then in Ethiopia. As Country Director I was responsible to assure the quality of the implementation of the entire program and operational intervention, according to the country strategies and the quality humanitarian standard such as SPHERE standard. In both countries I increased the program portfolio; in Ethiopia from 1 million to 7 million USD adding 7 new donors (AICS, ECHO, EU, OCHA, UNIDO, OFDA and USAID) and in Sudan from 1 million to 3 million USD adding 3 new donors (EU, UNICEF and IOM).
Before those experiences I worked for the Italian Cooperation, and in this occasion, I learnt how to manage the relations with local Ministries and International Organization.
My supervisors consider me a strong analytical, patience, committed and strategic person, with the ability to adapt to changes and manage competing priorities. I have also showed during the past years to have excellent interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to develop harmonious teams in a culturally diverse context trough the capacity of listening and motivating the team members
