Professional Experience:
Tim Ekin is a senior development specialist in the agriculture, horticulture and livestock sector, with over 25 years international development and business experience in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Australasia and North America. Mr. Ekin has served as program director, project manager, team leader, deputy chief of party and senior advisor on development projects in the fields of agribusiness, private sector extension, business development, livelihoods, sustainable rural development, food security and emergency projects in over 40 countries, on long and short term assignments. His work has ranged from senior management in bi- and multilateral development donor organizations, for international consultancy service providers, and in small, medium and multinational firms. He has a depth of understanding across the project cycle (design, inception and exit strategies, implementation, monitoring and evaluation) and is skilled in applying participatory methodologies to technical assistance and building national teams. Mr. Ekin has regularly developed positive solutions across the supply and value chain in agricultural sector linking quality assurance, post harvest processing, company formation and enterprise development, associations (community based and agribusiness), privatization, commercialization, industry development, and in the non-agriculture sector including tourism linking with rural communities. His work includes significant contributions in the fields of enterprise development, sustainable livelihoods; marketing, export promotion and trade in the private, public, cooperative and NGO sectors; policy in the agricultural sector and sub-sectors, institutional strengthening, capacity building in developing countries and in countries in transition. His work has included activities involving finance and credit in the agriculture sector. He has also made significant contributions to strengthening food security, product development, technology transfer, and positive solutions to support agricultural sector resilience in climate change.

He is familiar with other issues including disaster responses, civil society, natural resources conservation, and gender.

1. Masters of Agribusiness. Specialization in supply / value chains.
2. Bachelor of Applied Science (Rural Technology), Honours on Merit.
