Professional Experience:
Consultant with over 10 years non-governmental, public and private sector experience in HIV prevention, SRH, public health and community development, working with young people and other hard-to-reach populations in Africa and Europe. Specific expertise in gathering local knowledge to help organisations design and implement more relevant, meaningful and effective programmes and policies. Key skills include:
- Ethnographic and participatory research around programme cycles for proposal and strategic programme (re)design
- Monitoring and evaluation, with particular expertise in ethnographic and qualitative evaluation based in realist and grounded theory, and theory of change approaches
- Capacity building and training for research around the programme cycle
- Social marketing and behaviour change research to help organisations understand needs and behaviours of local populations, identify key service gaps, maximise user engagement, and provide actionable recommendations for service or programme improvement
- Building evidence bases around specific social development programmes, models and approaches
- Quantitive and qualitative social research, including interviews (structured or semi-structured, key informant, life history), focus groups, ethnography, participatory techniques, workshops, and surveys
- Communicating written, verbal and visual research and evaluation findings and recommendations to a wide range of professional and cultural audiences
