Professional Experience:
Career started in 2000, at Rio de Janeiro’s City Department of Labor, working at the “Low-Income Neighborhood Urban Development Program”, dedicated to providing slums with urban services and infrastructure (waste collection, sewage, water supply) and promote employment and income generation. In 2002, I joined the Research and Projects Financing Agency (FINEP), a company associated to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, devoted to the promotion of Brazil's social and economic development through funding for science, technology and innovation at universities, technology institutes and companies (approx. 700 employees, U$ 1.3 billion annual budget). There I worked as Head and Deputy Director in departments that managed projects of research, development and innovation, supervising up to 60 people in activities of technical analysis and monitoring of projects (information and communication, education and energy sectors), operation of calls for proposals to select projects in the strategic sectors (which alone represented, in 2009, almost 60% of FINEP’s demand). I also worked in FINEP’s Investment unit, where I coordinated the “Sustainable Brazil” Venture Capital Forum in june/2012 (during the RIO+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development), selecting and assisting 12 innovative, high-growth potential companies (in areas like renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, sustainable cities and climate change adaptation) through sessions of business plans development, until their final presentation to potential investors. In 2014, I was elected by my colleagues as Member of the Board of Directors of FINEP’s Pension Fund, working at the definition of the entity’s vision and management strategy, annual budget and investment policy (asset allocation, return expectations) and designation of CEOs and Executive Directors. There I’ve been responsible for reporting a Strategic Plan to the Board of Directors, comprising activities on the entity’s organizational structure, marketing, relations and communications with participants, restructuring of pension plans, liabilities management and governance, risk management and compliance. Portuguese is my native language, and I’m fluent in English, Spanish and French, with basic knowledge of Italian.
