I have but one professional goal – to continue to advance effective governance and democracy through political parties and local, state and national governments both here and abroad, especially for youth, women and persons with disabilities (PWDs). It's where my career focus has been for nearly 15 years and where I've delivered exceptional results.
A few of my more notable contributions include:
Effectively managed or co-managed international programs in Nigeria, Zimbabwe and South Sudan, which included US government, USAID and international donor budgets - the largest being $30 million over a three-year cycle. Post Hurricane Katrina – Worked closely with the city of New Orleans' Disaster Recovery Chief to develop and implement recovery policies that are still in place today.
My lobbying efforts in state government have contributed to increases in education funding for minority students in West Virginia and in the number of minority men and women appointed to Kentucky's boards / commissions as well as the appointment of the first African American State Supreme Court Justice.
I bring to your organization a strong blend of organizational development, budgeting and financial management skills as well as familiarity with local and international political systems and legislative bodies. Combine this with my willingness to relocate to conflict-prone or fragile states; the ability to work in the most austere environments; and a proven track record that includes training and developing local and national staff and I feel confident that I can help take your organization to the next level.
