Research Associate | 2013 – Present
Responsible for implementing a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for scholarship and convening activities to develop real world evidence (RWE) through health information systems. Developed project research plans and goals; monitored implementation activities; and directed and mentored junior research staff. Key achievements include:
• Designed numerous workshops seeking to drive stakeholder agreement on key regulatory policy issues across data, methods, and technology domain areas for generating more efficient evidence.
• Managed background research for workshops including engagement with nationally renowned subject matter experts to identify and frame discussion issues for agenda development.
• Selected as a workshop session facilitator by center leadership in recognition for expertise in health information systems and data standards.
• Developed research strategies for using a common data model and distributed data network comprised of national health plans and health systems to generate RWE on high cost drugs.
• Led drafting of a legislative provision passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in the 21st Century Cures Act to provide new authority for public health research with claims databases.

eHealth and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Research Consultant | 2013 – 2015
Technical consultant for the Costa Rica Reimbursement Advisory Services team and providing thought leadership on health information systems in support of UHC. Key achievements include:
• Participated in multiple missions to evaluate Costa Rica’s social security subsystem’s eHealth infrastructure. Identified and met with key informants in the ministry and organized site visits to assess technology workflow in clinical practice and opportunities to strengthen first level of care.
• Provided recommendations for targeted investments to improve use of health information systems, which were presented to senior World Bank and Ministry of Health leadership.
• Conducted background research for and contributed as a co-author to a World Bank book analyzing successful UHC policies across the Latin American and Caribbean region.
