I started my career in commercial banking. In addition to one year of formal credit management training, I have ten years of experience in corporate and commercial lending, which included analyzing credit risks as well as relationship development and relationship management (identifying and solving a full range of financial services needs for customers).I've managed a portfolio of well over $1 billion in active loans. I left banking to attend Johns Hopkins SAIS. Afterwards, I spend 12 years, four of which were spent in South Africa, as a consultant and project manager focused on developing and implementing strategic change and on improving the operations of private-sector businesses. I then worked for 9 years as a project manager for a US Government Agency focused on increasing economic growth in developing economies in Africa and Eastern Europe. I developed large projects in multiple countries and managed their implementation through the efforts of local staffs. I managed multiple projects in up to 5 countries simultaneously with a dollar value in excess of $100 million.
