Professional Experience:
I worked for the Government of Georgia in the Ministry of Education in various key positions in the early phase of my career managing multi-million national programs.
I held the position of a Deputy Minister of Environment of Georgia and then that of a Minister during the transitional government in late 2012, altogether for about three years. I was the primary point of contact Government official for international partners and donors in the fields of environment and climate change. I led the negotiations on Environmental Protection and Climate Change topics for the Georgia - European Union Association Agreement. George is a co-author of the most recent publication on this matter, authoring Climate Change and Environment chapter. I worked as an Environmental and Social Performance Director at the Millennium Challenge Account – Georgia for about four years. I also served as a principle Member of the Green Climate Fund's (GCF) first Board for a term of three years (2012-2015).
I have extensive lecturing and research experience for eight years.
I speak English, Russian and Armenian languages in addition to native Georgian.
