Professional Experience: |
My main areas of interest are: yield gap analysis, climate-smart agriculture, participatory action research, crop modelling and spatial analysis, community of practice, capacity development and knowledge sharing, and translational research.
For having born and grown up in a rural area and visited farmers in over 12 countries, I have an excellent knowledge of the livelihoods and challenges of small scale farmers living in the Sub-Saharan Africa. Major achievements include potato varieties released and consumed at commercial scale in various countries, proposals developed, capacity development of national institutions, communities of practice, publications and social networking, negotiated agreements, training-of-trainers, uncounted seminars/workshops, presentations in international conferences, etc.

Mr. Dieudonné Harahagazwe holds a PhD from the Department of Crop Ecophysiology and Plant Breeding, Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. His doctoral dissertation – publicly presented in 2009 - is titled “Heat tolerance assessment of the potato crop: evaluation of CIP clones in the lowlands of Burundi”. He completed in 2003 an MSc program in Tropical Agriculture at the "Faculté Universitaire des Sciences Agronomiques de Gembloux", Belgium. Before that, he had graduated with high grade as Agricultural Engineer (5-year program) at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, University of Burundi.
